Why Voting Matters

Elections are the heart of our democracy. In Concord, every election is carried out under the rules of the New Hampshire Constitution and the City Charter. The process is designed to protect your rights and make sure every

eligible resident can take part in shaping the future of our community.

Signing Up to Vote

Registering to Vote in Concord

To vote in New Hampshire, you must first be registered. If you live in Concord and meet the requirements, you have the right to register.

  • When to Register: You may register before Election Day at the City Clerk’s Office or on Election Day directly at your polling place.

  • What You’ll Need: Bring proof of your identity, age (you must be 18 or older by Election Day), and residency in Concord.

  • No Documents? Don’t worry. If you cannot provide proof, you can still register by signing a legal statement confirming your eligibility, as allowed by New Hampshire law.

Voting as a Military Member or Overseas Citizen

If you are serving in the military or living overseas but still consider Concord your home, you can register and vote by absentee ballot.

  • Military Voters: You can request the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA), also known as the Registration and Absentee Ballot Request (red and white form), from your commanding officer.

  • If the form is not available, both military personnel and overseas citizens can download it at www.fvap.gov.

  • Where to Send It: Mail the completed form to:

City Clerk’s Office

41 Green Street
Concord, NH 03301

  • You are observing a religious practice that prevents you from voting in person

  • Your work or employment schedule does not allow you to be at the polls

How to Request an Absentee Ballot

There are two ways to request a ballot:

  1. Visit the City Clerk’s Office in person

  2. Send a written request with the following information:

    • Your full name

    • Your voting address in Concord

    • The mailing address where you want your ballot delivered

    • Your signature

Note: During a Primary Election, if you are registered as an undeclared voter, you will need to choose a party when requesting your ballot.

How You Will Receive Your Ballot

Absentee ballots are:

  • Given directly to the voter at the City Clerk’s Office, or

  • Mailed through the U.S. Postal Service

For the upcoming Municipal Election on November 4, 2025, you can download the absentee ballot request form and find more details on the official Absentee Ballot Information Page.
