Terms & Conditions

This document serves as the binding agreement for all involvement in the Campaign, including events, training, advocacy trips, donations, partnerships, and the use of our platforms. It sets clear rules on eligibility, conduct, safeguarding, safety, travel, finances, media, intellectual property, dispute resolution, and legal responsibilities, allowing us to pursue our mission with integrity and accountability.

These Terms and Conditions constitute a binding agreement between the organization that operates and oversees the campaign, together with its affiliates, chapters, committees, staff, volunteers, mentors, contractors, and authorized representatives, and every individual or entity that participates in, supports, donates to, attends, partners with, or otherwise engages with the campaign. For clarity and consistency, this document refers to the collective initiative as “the Campaign.” By registering for programs or events, submitting an application, donating funds or in‑kind resources, volunteering, mentoring, entering any Campaign venue, accessing Campaign platforms, or otherwise interacting with the Campaign, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Definitions

For the purpose of these Terms, the term “Participant” means any person who engages with Campaign activities, whether as a youth member, student, mentee, mentor, volunteer, speaker, attendee, or guest. The term “Supporter” means any person or organization that contributes funds, goods, services, facilities, publicity, or other material assistance. The term “Partner” means any external organization that enters into an arrangement with the Campaign to deliver programs, co‑host events, provide sponsorship, or collaborate on advocacy, training, or community services. The term “Content” includes, without limitation, written materials, audio‑visual recordings, photographs, training curricula, speeches, publications, digital posts, graphics, and any other intellectual works produced or shared by or through the Campaign. The term “Platform” means any website, application, portal, messaging channel, or digital service controlled by the Campaign for communications and program delivery. The term “Events” means any meeting, training, conference, trip, gathering, or activity organized, sponsored, or endorsed by the Campaign, whether in person or online.

2. Purpose and Scope

The Campaign exists to identify, prepare, and mobilize emerging leaders who will advance community transformation through character formation, civic engagement, ethical entrepreneurship, peacebuilding, cultural pride, and advocacy for refugees, immigrants, and low‑income families. The Campaign integrates leadership development, education, mentoring, community service, and nonpartisan advocacy, and it operates across local, national, and international contexts where the organization has relationships, partners, or programmatic need. These Terms govern every dimension of the Campaign’s operations, including enrollment, participation, behavior standards, safeguarding, events, travel, fundraising, communications, data practices, partnerships, and dispute resolution. No oral statement or informal practice supersedes these Terms.

3. Guiding Values and Principles

The Campaign is grounded in dignity, integrity, service, accountability, nonviolence, inclusiveness, and excellence. Every decision must reflect the belief that leadership is stewardship for the public good. The Campaign rejects corruption, exploitation, discrimination, and all forms of abuse. It affirms the inherent worth of each person and seeks to elevate the voices of those historically marginalized by poverty, displacement, or social exclusion. Program design is evidence‑informed, culturally sensitive, and oriented toward measurable impact, while communications remain truthful, respectful, and empowering. These principles apply equally to staff, volunteers, Participants, Partners, and Supporters.

4. Eligibility and Enrollment

Participation is generally open to individuals who share the Campaign’s mission and agree to these Terms. Specific programs may establish age, residency, language, skill, or capacity requirements to ensure safety, maintain educational quality, or comply with regulatory standards. The Campaign may require applications, interviews, references, waivers, identification, parental or guardian consent for minors, and background checks for roles that involve trust, mentoring, travel, financial handling, or youth supervision. The Campaign may accept, wait-list, or decline applications at its discretion to preserve program integrity, ensure safety, maintain capacity, and uphold mission alignment. False statements or omissions in an application may result in denial or removal.

5. Participant Commitments

Participants agree to prepare for activities, arrive on time, follow instructions from authorized personnel, comply with applicable laws and venue rules, and treat others with dignity. Participants agree to protect confidential information they may encounter, including sensitive personal data shared in mentoring or safeguarding contexts. When representing the Campaign in public, Participants agree to speak accurately about the mission and refrain from unauthorized commitments on behalf of the organization. Participants accept personal responsibility for transportation, visas, travel documents, insurance, medications, and any required permissions, unless the Campaign expressly assumes a duty in writing.

6. Code of Conduct

Every Participant, Partner, Supporter, staff member, and volunteer must act with honesty, respect, and professionalism. The Campaign prohibits violence, threats, harassment, bullying, hate speech, exploitation, sexual misconduct, retaliation, intoxication at youth‑facing events, and possession or misuse of weapons or illegal substances. The Campaign also prohibits fraud, bribery, and conflicts of interest that compromise integrity. Dress, language, and behavior must be appropriate to the setting and consistent with the dignity of program beneficiaries. Violations may result in removal from an Event, termination of participation or partnership, referral to authorities where required, and other remedies deemed necessary to protect safety and mission integrity.

7. Safeguarding and Youth Protection

The Campaign maintains a zero‑tolerance approach to abuse and neglect. Individuals in positions of trust, including mentors, chaperones, staff, and volunteers, must complete required training and, where legally permissible and appropriate, undergo background screening. One‑to‑one interactions with minors should occur only in observable and interruptible settings, and digital communications with minors should be transparent and, where feasible, include parents or guardians. Physical contact must be appropriate and consensual. Any suspicion or allegation of abuse, exploitation, trafficking, harassment, or neglect must be reported immediately to designated safeguarding leads and, where mandated by law, to the relevant authorities. The protection of children and vulnerable persons takes precedence over confidentiality, and the Campaign will cooperate with lawful investigations.

8. Non‑Discrimination, Anti‑Harassment, and Accessibility

The Campaign rejects discrimination based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, immigration or refugee status, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or any other status protected by law. The Campaign strives to provide reasonable accommodations to enable full participation by individuals with disabilities, subject to resource constraints and safety considerations. Harassment is prohibited in any form, including verbal, physical, visual, or digital conduct that demeans, intimidates, or interferes with a person’s participation. Complaints are taken seriously and addressed promptly, with protection from retaliation for those who report concerns in good faith.

9. Health, Safety, and Risk Management

The Campaign undertakes reasonable measures to identify, mitigate, and communicate risks associated with Events and programs. Risk assessments, emergency plans, first-aid readiness, chaperone ratios, and venue reviews can be used to enhance safety. Participants are responsible for managing their personal health, including disclosing allergies or medical conditions that may affect safety, and for obtaining medical advice and vaccinations recommended for travel. The Campaign is not a healthcare provider and does not offer professional medical, psychological, financial, or legal advice. In emergencies, the Campaign may seek medical assistance for a Participant and share necessary information with responders, consistent with applicable law and the participant's best interests.

10. Events, Programs, and Travel

Events include leadership conferences, advocacy trainings, community service projects, cultural gatherings, and travel to educational or civic institutions. Registration instructions, dress codes, curfews, chaperone assignments, attendance expectations, and conduct requirements will be communicated in advance where feasible. The Campaign reserves the right to alter schedules, venues, or programming for safety, availability, or mission-related reasons. When Events involve advocacy at government offices, Participants agree to present themselves respectfully, follow security protocols, comply with staff directions, and refrain from disruptive conduct. Travel programs may require travel waivers, parental or guardian consent for minors, proof of insurance, and emergency contact information. The Campaign reserves the right to remove any person from an Event or travel program who poses a safety risk, fails to comply with instructions, or impedes the program's goals.

11. Registration, Fees, and Cancellations

Certain Events may require registration fees or deposits to secure attendance and cover costs such as venues, materials, transportation, lodging, or meals. Unless expressly stated otherwise in a specific Event policy, fees are non‑refundable because commitments and costs are often incurred in advance. Suppose an Event is postponed, modified, or cancelled for reasons beyond the Campaign’s reasonable control, including severe weather, public health directives, strikes, venue closures, or transportation disruptions. In that case, the Campaign may provide reasonable alternatives or credits where possible, but is not obligated to issue refunds. If a Participant is removed from an Event for violating these Terms or applicable law, no refund will be provided.

12. Donations, Fundraising, and Gift Acceptance

The Campaign welcomes philanthropic support to sustain leadership development, mentoring, advocacy, community projects, and organizational capacity. Donors acknowledge that gifts are voluntary and, absent a written agreement to the contrary, non‑refundable. The Campaign may accept unrestricted gifts, restricted gifts for specific purposes, and in‑kind contributions that further its mission. The Campaign may decline contributions that impose excessive restrictions, conflict with values or legal obligations, or create reputational risk. While reasonable efforts will be made to honor donor intent for restricted gifts, ultimate discretion for prudent stewardship remains with the Campaign in accordance with law and its fiduciary duties. Public recognition of donors is provided with consent, and anonymous gifts are respected. The Campaign does not provide legal, tax, or financial advice, and donors should consult their advisors regarding deductibility and documentation.

13. Financial Stewardship and Transparency

The Campaign is committed to responsible financial management. Funds are budgeted and expended in a manner consistent with program goals, internal controls, and applicable standards. Periodic reports summarizing program outcomes and financial stewardship may be shared with donors, Participants, and Partners to enhance accountability. The Campaign maintains accurate books and records, undergoes reviews as appropriate, and complies with lawful requests from regulators. Suspected fraud, theft, or misuse of funds must be reported to leadership immediately and will be investigated promptly.

14. Communications, Media, and Ethical Storytelling

The Campaign communicates through speeches, books, articles, curricula, websites, social channels, and other media. Accuracy, dignity, and empowerment guide all storytelling. When Participants voluntarily share testimonies or creative works, they grant the Campaign permission to record, edit, reproduce, distribute, publicly perform, and display such Content in connection with the Campaign’s mission, unless a specific written agreement provides otherwise. Sensitive stories, especially those involving refugees, minors, or trauma, will be shared with informed consent and with respect for privacy, cultural context, and safety considerations. Media access to Events may be managed to protect Participants and program integrity. Any misrepresentation of the Campaign’s mission or unauthorized use of its name, marks, or materials is prohibited.

15. Intellectual Property and Content Use

All Campaign materials, including curricula, training resources, handbooks, videos, photographs, graphics, recordings, and publications, are protected by intellectual property rights owned or licensed by the Campaign. Except as expressly allowed by a written license, no part of the materials may be copied, reproduced, distributed, adapted, translated, or exploited for commercial purposes without prior written consent. Participants and contributors retain their own intellectual property in original works they create. By submitting or presenting such works in Campaign contexts, they grant the Campaign a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use the works for educational, promotional, reporting, and archival purposes, with proper attribution where feasible. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of pre‑existing intellectual property.

16. Digital Platforms and Acceptable Use

Use of Campaign Platforms requires honesty, civility, and security. Users may not impersonate others, access accounts without authorization, introduce malware, engage in spamming, or use the Platforms to harass, defame, or disseminate hateful or obscene material. The Campaign may moderate, remove, or restrict access to Content that violates these Terms or the law. Users are responsible for safeguarding their credentials and for all activities under their accounts. The Campaign may maintain logs to protect security, improve services, and comply with legal obligations. External links may be provided for convenience; the Campaign is not responsible for third‑party content, practices, or policies.

17. Data Privacy and Protection

The Campaign collects personal information that is reasonably necessary to operate programs, process registrations and donations, ensure safety, and communicate with Participants and Supporters. Typical information may include names, contact details, age or date of birth for eligibility checks, emergency contacts, dietary or accessibility needs for Events, travel information for trip coordination, and donor information for receipting. The Campaign uses administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. Personal information is retained only as long as needed for lawful and legitimate purposes and is then securely deleted or archived. Individuals may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their information where permitted by law, and may opt out of non‑essential communications. The Campaign does not sell personal information. Where the Campaign relies on service providers for payment processing, communications, background checks, or event management, such providers are required by contract to protect personal information and use it only for authorized purposes. Additional consents may be requested when handling sensitive information or recording Events. Parents or guardians must provide consent for data collection on minors, as required by applicable law.

18. Volunteers, Mentors, and Staff Obligations

Volunteers, mentors, and staff are ambassadors of the Campaign. They must complete orientation, uphold safeguarding and conduct standards, follow instructions from supervisors, and promptly disclose conflicts of interest or potential misconduct. Where required by law or organizational policy, mentors and chaperones will undergo background checks and training before contact with youth. Volunteers and mentors acknowledge that their roles do not create an employment relationship unless explicitly stated in a written contract. The Campaign may end a volunteer or mentor engagement at any time if conduct or capacity is inconsistent with program needs or these Terms.

19. Partnerships, Sponsorships, and Endorsements

Partnerships are pursued to extend reach, deepen impact, and steward resources responsibly. The Campaign conducts appropriate due diligence before entering partnerships or accepting sponsorships, considering mission alignment, ethical standing, legal compliance, and reputational risk. The Campaign may terminate or decline any partnership or sponsorship that compromises the safety, integrity, or independence of the Campaign. Endorsements of third‑party products, services, or political positions are not permitted unless expressly authorized in writing by Campaign leadership and consistent with applicable law and nonpartisan status.

20. Advocacy, Government Engagement, and Nonpartisanship

The Campaign engages in nonpartisan advocacy to educate the public and policymakers about issues affecting youth leadership, refugees, immigrants, and community development. Participants must not represent personal opinions as official positions of the Campaign without authorization. The Campaign does not support or oppose any candidate for public office and does not coordinate with political campaigns. Meetings with government offices are conducted respectfully and in compliance with applicable lobbying, ethics, and facility rules. Any permissible advocacy expenditures are tracked in accordance with law and organizational policy.

21. Conflicts of Interest and Ethical Compliance

Individuals acting on behalf of the Campaign must avoid situations where personal, financial, or other interests conflict with their duty to the Campaign. Potential conflicts must be disclosed promptly and managed through recusal or other safeguards. Gifts, hospitality, or favors offered to Campaign personnel must not influence or appear to influence decision‑making. Bribes, kickbacks, and improper inducements are prohibited. Procurement follows fairness and value principles, and records are kept to demonstrate integrity.

22. Complaints, Grievances, and Whistleblowing

The Campaign encourages the prompt reporting of concerns about safety, conduct, discrimination, harassment, financial impropriety, or other violations of these Terms. Reports may be made to designated leaders or through published reporting channels. Concerns are assessed in a timely and impartial manner, with confidentiality maintained to the extent possible. Retaliation against any person who, in good faith, raises or participates in reviewing a concern is strictly prohibited and may result in disciplinary action. Where allegations involve potential criminal conduct, the Campaign will cooperate with lawful authorities.

23. Dispute Resolution

Most concerns can be resolved through constructive dialogue. If a dispute persists between a Participant, Supporter, Partner, or other stakeholder and the Campaign, the parties agree to attempt good‑faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, the parties may proceed to non‑binding mediation using a mutually acceptable mediator in a location reasonably connected to the dispute or the Campaign’s principal office. If mediation does not resolve the matter, either party may seek relief in a court of competent jurisdiction. Nothing in this section prevents either party from pursuing emergency relief where necessary to protect safety, privacy, or intellectual property.

24. Indemnification, Liability, and Insurance

To the fullest extent permitted by law, each Participant agrees to release and hold harmless the Campaign and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, mentors, contractors, and agents from claims and liabilities arising out of participation in Events or use of Platforms, except to the extent caused by the Campaign’s gross negligence or willful misconduct. Each Participant further agrees to indemnify the Campaign against claims arising from the Participant’s own acts or omissions that violate these Terms or applicable law. The Campaign maintains appropriate insurance coverage for organizational activities, but does not provide personal insurance for Participants. Participants are encouraged to obtain individual medical, travel, and liability insurance coverage that is suitable for their specific circumstances.

25. No Warranty and No Professional Advice

Campaign services and materials are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non‑infringement. Training content is educational and does not constitute legal, medical, psychological, tax, or financial advice. Participants should seek advice from qualified professionals when making decisions in these domains.

26. Compliance with Laws, Sanctions, and Export Controls

The Campaign operates in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including those relating to charitable solicitation, data protection, safeguarding, public health, immigration, and non‑discrimination. The Campaign will not knowingly transact with individuals or entities subject to government sanctions or restrictions and may screen transactions to ensure compliance with these obligations. Participants and Partners agree not to use Campaign programs to facilitate illegal activities.

27. Force Majeure

The Campaign is not responsible for delays or failures to perform where performance is rendered impracticable or impossible by causes beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, fires, floods, epidemics, pandemics, acts of government, labor disputes, civil unrest, cyber incidents, utility failures, or widespread transportation disruptions. When a force majeure event occurs, the Campaign may suspend, modify, or cancel affected programs and will endeavor, where feasible, to provide reasonable alternatives.

28. Amendments, Notices, and Effective Date

The Campaign reserves the right to update these Terms to reflect operational, legal, or safety developments. Material changes will be communicated through reasonable means such as email, website postings, or program briefings. Continued participation after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Notices to the Campaign should be delivered to the official address or email designated on the Campaign’s website or program materials. These Terms take effect on the date of publication or as otherwise stated in accompanying notices.

29. Severability and Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is held unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect, and the invalid provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted or replaced by a valid term that most closely reflects the original intent. These Terms constitute the entire agreement governing participation in and engagement with the Campaign and supersede prior or contemporaneous communications on the same subject, except where a specific written agreement expressly supplements these Terms.

30. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, to the extent applicable, the laws of the state in which the Campaign maintains its principal office, without regard to conflict‑of‑law principles. Unless otherwise required by law, venue for any action arising out of or relating to these Terms shall lie in a court of competent jurisdiction in that state.

31. Acknowledgment and Acceptance

By registering for or attending any Event, submitting an application, donating funds or in‑kind support, volunteering time or expertise, accessing a Platform, or otherwise engaging with the Campaign, you represent that you are of legal age or have appropriate consent, that you have authority to agree to these Terms on your own behalf or on behalf of the entity you represent, and that you accept and will abide by these Terms in full. If you disagree, you must refrain from participation and notify the Campaign immediately so that appropriate administrative steps can be taken.
