Life Outside Work

I have always believed that true leadership begins in the everyday moments of life, in how we live, how we treat others, and the values we hold close. My life is shaped by discipline, faith, and strong relationships with family and friends. When people ask me how I spend my time outside of work, I tell them that most of my free time goes back to the people and activities that keep me grounded. I stay active because I believe health and discipline are part of living a balanced life. Track and field has always been something I enjoy. Running isn’t just about competition for me; it helps me clear my mind and gives me the focus I need for the challenges of leadership. It reminds me to keep pushing forward, one step at a time.

When people ask me how I spend my time outside of work, I tell them that most of my free time goes back to the people and things that keep me grounded. I stay active because I believe health and discipline are part of living a balanced life. Track and field has always been something I enjoy. Running isn’t just about competition for me; it helps me clear my mind and gives me the focus I need for the challenges of leadership. It reminds me to keep pushing forward, one step at a time.

Family and close friends are at the center of my life. I spend a lot of time with relatives, as well as classmates and friends I’ve known for years. We enjoy simple things like cooking together, barbecuing in the summer, or planning trips outdoors. Camping, hiking, and traveling are some of my favorite activities because they give us a chance to slow down, have fun, and share experiences that bring us closer together. These are the moments where I see what really matters: relationships, trust, and shared values.

Faith has also shaped who I am. I’m a member of Overcomers Church of God, where Pastor Clement Kigugu has been leading for many years. I play the keyboard during services, and being part of the music team has taught me how to serve in quiet but meaningful ways. Church is where I learned that leadership isn’t about having the loudest voice; it’s about giving your time, your skills, and your heart to strengthen others.

Another part of me is my love for computers and technology. Since I was young, I’ve been curious about programming, problem-solving, and finding creative ways to use technology. I enjoy learning new things on the computer, whether it’s coding, designing, or just exploring creative ideas. For me, it’s not just a hobby, it’s a way to think differently and imagine new possibilities for the future.

When I’m with friends, our conversations often go beyond small talk. We discuss leadership, education, and the future of our communities. We talk about the issues facing young people, the opportunities we can create, and what it means to build stronger, healthier neighborhoods. I enjoy these conversations because they connect everyday life with the bigger picture of where we are headed as a community.

All of these parts of my life, spending time with family, staying active, being involved in church, enjoying technology, and sharing ideas with friends, are connected to the kind of leader I try to be. They keep me balanced and remind me that leadership is not just about politics. It’s about living with responsibility, treating people with respect, and making sure we bring people together instead of pushing them apart.

I believe true leadership shows in everyday life, in how you treat your family, how you serve your community, how you stay disciplined, and how you keep learning and growing. My hope is to bring that kind of leadership to our city: leadership that listens, learns, and works to build a future where everyone feels included and valued.
